Gift cards overview
What gift cards are, who can sell them, and how the whole flow works.
Gift cards let your clients buy a pre-loaded dollar amount that someone else (or themselves) can redeem when booking a service with you. They are available on Growth and Business plans.
How it works end to end:
1. You set up one or more denominations in Dashboard → Gift Cards (e.g. $50, $100) 2. Your public gift card page is available at bontro.co/gift/your-slug 3. A client buys a gift card via Stripe Checkout and receives a code by email (format: XXXX-XXXX-XXXX) 4. The recipient enters the code at the bottom of your booking page when booking 5. If the gift card covers the full service cost, the booking goes through without any additional charge
Who can sell gift cards: Gift cards require all five of these to be true: - Your plan is Growth or Business - Your account is at least 30 days old (fraud prevention) - Your Stripe Connect account is fully onboarded - You have at least 5 confirmed bookings on your account - You have accepted the Gift Card Terms of Service in the dashboard
If any gate is not met, Dashboard → Gift Cards will tell you which one and what to do.
Funds go directly to you: Gift card purchases go straight to your connected Stripe account — just like regular bookings. Bontro never holds your funds.
No expiration: Gift cards issued through Bontro never expire. The balance is available indefinitely until used or voided.
