Managing issued gift cards (voiding and refunds)
View all sold gift cards, check balances, and void with automatic Stripe refund.
The Issued Cards tab in Dashboard → Gift Cards shows every gift card sold through your account.
What you see for each card: - Gift card code - Buyer name and email - Recipient name and email (if different from buyer) - Status: Active / Partially Used / Redeemed / Voided - Original amount and remaining balance - Purchase date
Statuses explained: - Active: Full balance available, not yet used - Partially Used: Some balance has been redeemed but funds remain - Redeemed: Balance is $0.00 — fully used - Voided: Cancelled by you. The remaining balance was refunded to the original buyer.
Voiding a gift card: You can void any Active or Partially Used gift card: 1. Find the card in the Issued Cards tab 2. Click the Void button 3. Confirm in the dialog
When you void a card: - The remaining balance is automatically refunded to the original buyer's Stripe payment method - The card is immediately marked Voided and can no longer be redeemed - A note in your Payments dashboard records the refund
Refunds typically appear on the buyer's statement within 5–10 business days (this is bank timing, not Bontro).
When to void a card: - Client requests a refund on an unused gift card - You're closing your business or pausing gift card sales - Suspected fraud or error (wrong amount, duplicate purchase)
What you cannot do: - Restore a voided card - Partially refund a card (void always refunds the full remaining balance) - Void a fully Redeemed card (no balance left to refund)
