Connecting your Stripe account
Step-by-step Stripe onboarding, payouts, and supported countries.
Stripe is how Bontro processes payments. You need a Stripe account to collect deposits, upfront payments, or use payment request links.
Why Stripe: - Payments go directly to your Stripe account -- Bontro never holds your money - No Bontro commission. Stripe's fee is 2.9% + 30 cents per card transaction - Payout schedule: typically 2 business days after a transaction
How to connect: 1. Go to Settings -> Payments (or the onboarding prompt in your dashboard) 2. Click "Connect Stripe" 3. You will be redirected to Stripe's secure onboarding 4. Enter your personal information, business type, and bank account 5. Complete identity verification (usually your SSN last 4 or full SSN for sole proprietors) 6. Return to Bontro -- your account is connected
Onboarding takes 5-10 minutes. Stripe verifies your identity before enabling payouts.
If you already have a Stripe account: Click "Connect Stripe" and sign in with your existing Stripe email. Your Bontro account links to your existing Stripe account -- you do not need a new one.
Supported countries: Stripe Connect is available in the US, Canada, UK, Australia, and most of Europe. Check stripe.com/global for the full list.
Payout schedule: Stripe's default is 2-business-day rolling payouts to your bank account. You can adjust this in your Stripe dashboard. Instant payouts (1.5% fee) are available with a supported debit card.
No commission model: Bontro uses Stripe Connect with destination charges. 100% of what clients pay goes directly to your Stripe account. Bontro does not take a cut. Only Stripe's standard processing fee applies.
Pro tip: Connect Stripe during onboarding even if you plan to use the free plan first. It is required to collect deposits and payment requests -- two features that dramatically reduce no-shows.
